The venue was a joy to photograph with the beautiful open floor-length windows in the ceremony room to the beautiful leafy arch outside! Carly and Daley are very easy to photograph as they have such a natural and involved connection and they trusted me to capture their bond in a fun and yet beautiful way.
Styled shoots are great ways to show couples that they can take a colour and style that they love and allow it to influence all aspects of their day from cake to stationery.
Styling wise we wanted to keep it simple and let the warm tones of the orange and brass shine through! We incorporated some pomegranates to bring more jewel tones to complement the pops of colours brought in through the florals. We also brought vintage brass candlesticks and cut crystal glassware to align with the Downton abbey theme!
The floral designs were inspired by the glamour of the 1920s theme. The mix of colours from deep burnt orange to peach with an accent of burgundy gave an opulent feel. Roses are always a bridal favourite and we chose Bellini, Carpe Diem and Clarence varieties. These were complemented by delicate lisianthus and a vibrant pop of tangerine Cymbidium orchids and Euphorbia in a salmon shade. The floral lapel on the groom’s jacket provided a more contemporary twist.
I loved doing close up macro shots of the stunning jewellery! The art deco era is iconic for striking shapes and bold statement pieces of jewellery so I created these pieces to show off those elements first and foremost, in particular with the freshwater pearl fan necklace. Pearls were very much iconic to the time so that had to be something that was centre stage!
To give the pieces a more modern twist I arranged them in more modern styles such as the layered earrings and the backdrop blue topaz bomb with the layered necklaces. The blue topaz necklace and earrings could also be worn in a number of ways making them very versatile pieces, multi-wear jewellery was also something that was very popular in the 1920’s which rings right back to the Victorian times which provided a lot of inspiration. The rings consisted of a pear shaped Aquamarine with tapered baguette diamonds and a band of baguette diamonds in the wedding ring which really echoes back to those deco shapes of straight lines and structured angles, but by keeping the overall designs very simple it gave them a modern edge.
Stationery is minimalistic yet elegant. The invitation suite offers a modern twist on the 20s theme, including bold fonts and shaped stationery. Pops of colour are used throughout, looking especially striking on the bespoke Vow Booklets.
Both gowns offer sultry style and regal romance. Dauphine by Morilee features lace with elegant frosted embroidery, with the addition of detachable sleeves. Gown 7586 by Mark Lesley is a timeless Mikado gown, combining refined tradition with a contemporary edge.
The cake was a pleasure to photograph too with its Edwardian styled 5 tiered sponge wedding cake with vintage Lambeth style embellishments and an edible cake lace tier. The cake was decorated with silk peach apricot roses
